I BELIEVE

I believe that the moon is made of cheese and that mice live within the core

I believe that Michigan is adjacent to Heaven and that the gods blessed the land to make it fertile and free

I believe that cats were put on this world to protect the human race from its own stupidity

I believe that dogs were meant to be our partners and guides

I believe that the dolphin is an evil creature that has taken us in with its playful ways and will one day rise up to dominate us and consume our young

I believe that the gods used science to create reality and that evolution is a tool of the divine … hence those who think the two are mutually exclusive are frickin idiots

I believe that cheese cake was created to make me fat

I believe that people are responsible for their own actions

I believe that children are innocent and must be protected

I believe in the death penalty

I believe that abortion is a slippery slope that I don’t want to walk

Never forget that I am lucky man,
But I don't believe that I deserve it

Stay within the boundaries and color inside the lines,
But sometimes it will be hard and will want to pounce on what lies forbidden and enticing

The Change The Change

A day that started out cold and then turned to icy frost
… that was when the world changed

Never would he have though that it would have happened that way
… like lightning on a clear winters day

He lived with a blinder over his heart and covering his soul so that he never allowed himself to see what he did not have
… what he had settled for

I he had seen the change coming and been braced for it he may have been able to duck or dodge it
… like the matador with the red silk cape

What has Josh been up to lately?

I am sure that question has been burrowing itself deep into your minds and has been triggering your desire to urinate at inappropriate times. I am also willing to lay money that you have been so concerned with the activities that I have been engaged in that it has affected your love life with best guy or gal … or your best guy and gal!

Josh has been working his fat ass off at the day jorb (at night) and writing.

The Risen Dead: Life During the Zombie Apocalypse is in the hands of my pre-readers and the terrifying search for an agent begins this week. But in the mean time I have two other things in the pipe. The Deadworld RPG is crawling along (and fuck do I mean crawling along) towards completion. It feels like we are rewriting the entire D20 Modern System into a Modern Horror System. This is great in that I think people will really like the changes and how they fit themselves into the gaming world of Deadworld. This is bad in that the Deadline has effectively been chucked and I am almost two and a half months late.

… sigh …

The other thing that I have begun working on is the next novel. Some of you may remember that I began a novel before The Risen Dead called The Darkness on the Lake back in 2008. I abandoned the book after the disaster that was The Dead Reign RPG and forgot about it. A few weeks ago I picked it up again and read what was there. Some of it was painful to read and a lot of it was nonsense but the idea and the cold opening were both pretty good in my opinion. So I kept the name and the opening sequence (about a thousand words) and chucked the rest, then I began again. I am now more than eight thousand words into the first draft and I have to say it is humming. The Darkness on the Lake is going to be much short than the Risen Dead (maybe 100,000 words) but I think it is going to be a tight little horror novel.
